Wednesday Morning Update

From Kelly: Well sorry for not getting an update out. Deb is continuing to improve daily. We were a little bummed yesterday that we were not able to go home. We met with a lot of therapists yesterday. The speech therapist has asked Deb in the past to subtract seven from 100 and continue subtracting seven from each answer until she reaches zero. It was a little funny yesterday when Deb told the speech therapist "ask me to do that again and you are going to get it! Who cares!" It sounds like if more tests go well today that we might be able to come home. However, heading home soon seems to be the answer we get every day. Deb will do a hearing test this morning. It should be interesting because the kids claim that she could not hear before the accident! :)

We've found out that no matter how bad we feel for ourselves that someone else has it worse. Deb met a lady who works here in the hospital who's brother-in-law has been in a coma for four weeks. He was hit in the head at work by a pipe. So, we should feel blessed with where we are because it could have been worse.

We'll keep you posted as we learn more about Deb's progress today.

  1. Thanks so much for the update,we were so worried about you guys yesterday. Kelly, you are so right, we have been so blessed with miracles, one almost feels guilty for wanting more but we'll keep praying for Debbie's full recovery; I think she's too onery for anything less but that fighting spirit will sustain her.
Jason is still doing super, yesterday they put the sprinkler under the tramp and Blair set-up some straw so they could target practice--they had to go about a hundred times at the fair on the fourth. So they really enjoyed that.
Just let me know what you want me to do as far as Jason, we'll be glad to have him at your house when you arrive or wait a couple of days for you to get settled...our schedule is wide open. Hope things go well today!
    Love Ya!

  3. Hi, we're so glad to hear about Deb. It definitely sounds like her. We're happy that Deb is getting her math practice; that certainly takes concentration. Hope your other tests go well. I think doctors are good at saying "soon", but be patient. We all will be glad to have you here in Pocatello, so rest now and heal because you will have nonstop visitors when you get home. Take care. We love ya!

  4. Deb, you are doing great! I think it would take me a while to subtract seven from 100 and go all the way down!! Why not by tens, maybe I could handle that one! So glad to hear you have kept your sense of humor. We are happy that things are going as well as they are. Was up at the Rehab Center visiting someone today and I was hoping that by a small chance I'd run into you....pretty soon we'll be able to give you a big hug!! Keep up the good work! Love to all!

Thanks for the good laugh girl. I am so glad to hear that you still got your spunk. I think the therapist should give brownie points for the humor!
